MTN Ghana has invested GH¢15.4 million in an Accident and Emergency Centre at the Ho Teaching Hospital and supported digital skills training for 1,000 girls and 100 teachers in the Volta Region as part of efforts to improve healthcare, education and digital inclusion.

The investments were highlighted by David Gyimah Boadi, General Manager for Sales for Southern Ghana at MTN Ghana, during a stakeholder engagement forum that brought together media practitioners, regulators, customers and representatives of public institutions.

MTN Strengthens Healthcare and Education in the Volta Region

The modern Accident and Emergency Centre, constructed through the MTN Ghana Foundation, was commissioned and handed over to the Ho Teaching Hospital in March 2026. The facility is expected to strengthen emergency medical services and improve access to critical healthcare in the region.

In education, 230 students in the Volta Region have benefited from the MTN Ghana Foundation’s Bright Scholarship Scheme. Nationally, the foundation awarded 500 scholarships in 2026, covering educational expenses such as tuition, accommodation, stipends and laptops to ease the financial burden on students.

MTN Trains Young People in Digital Skills

MTN Ghana continues to promote technology education and youth employment through initiatives such as the One Million Coders programme, MTN Skills Academy and Girls-in-ICT.

The Girls-in-ICT initiative, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications, provided 1,000 girls and 100 teachers with training in basic information and communications technology (ICT), digital competencies and workplace readiness.

Meanwhile, the MTN Skills Academy has equipped more than 100,000 young people with digital literacy, financial skills and career development competencies to improve their employability and participation in Ghana’s digital economy.

The company is also supporting innovation and entrepreneurship through DigiFest 2026, the Tɛkyerɛma Pa Hackathon and the MTN Game Developer Contest. These initiatives provide opportunities for young innovators, start-ups, small businesses and software developers to showcase ideas and develop practical technology skills.

MTN Ghana Reaffirms Commitment to Customer Service

Sheila Sorinye, Media Relations Adviser at MTN Ghana, reiterated the company’s commitment to providing quality telecommunications services and improving customer satisfaction.

She emphasised that customers remain central to the company’s operations, adding that MTN continues to invest in service delivery and fair treatment to provide a better customer experience.

The stakeholder engagement also provided a platform for discussions on network investment, environmental sustainability, digital inclusion, enterprise development and customer service.

Representatives from the National Communications Authority (NCA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Ghana Police Service and Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), among other stakeholders, participated in the engagement.

The discussions highlighted the importance of collaboration between telecommunications companies, regulators, the media and public institutions in improving service quality and expanding access to digital opportunities.

MTN Ghana says its investments in healthcare infrastructure, scholarships, technology education and digital innovation form part of its broader commitment to supporting Ghana’s socio-economic development.
