Raymond Archer has officially been confirmed as the substantive Executive Director of Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), effective October 27, 2026.

The appointment was confirmed by EOCO Board Chairman Daniel Domelevo, who stated that Archer formally assumed the position on the stated date.

Archer had been serving as EOCO’s Acting Executive Director since August 2025, when he took over from former director Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah. Before joining the agency’s leadership, Archer worked as an investigative journalist.

As the substantive head of EOCO, he is expected to strengthen investigations into economic and organised crime, including money laundering, human trafficking and other financial offences. The agency plays a key role in protecting Ghana’s financial system and addressing criminal activities that threaten the country’s economic interests.

While Archer has received praise for aspects of his work, his leadership style and some of the office’s operational approaches have also attracted criticism.

His confirmation formalises his leadership of the state institution as it continues efforts to tackle financial crime and strengthen accountability in Ghana.
