The primary suspect in the attempted trafficking of seven slabs of cocaine totaling eight kilograms through Swissport at Kotoka International Airport has been taken into custody by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).
On August 13 and 14, 2025, separate attempts were made to intercept the illegal drug shipment that was headed for the United Kingdom. Initial inquiries uncovered advanced concealing techniques meant to evade airport security procedures.
NACOC reports that after extensive monitoring and intelligence-led activities, the suspect, Emmanuel Jared Ohene Obuobi, was captured.
According to authorities, the person is at the center of a global drug trafficking organization that connects Europe and West Africa.
While NACOC has reassured the public of its commitment to cracking down on drug smuggling and bolstering airport security measures, the suspect is presently in prison and cooperating with investigations.
