The arrest and prosecution of a gold smuggling gang involving NK Bernak Enterprise and RAFMOH Gold Ltd. has been reported to the media by the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).

Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi Esq. stated during a news conference yesterday, Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the GoldBod office in Accra that the case is the most complex gold smuggling case the organization has ever discovered since its founding.

He clarified that on August 27, 2025, the GoldBod Taskforce arrested Abdul Razak Seidu at the Winneba intersection after receiving a tip from a patriotic Ghanaian whistleblower. They discovered in his hands items that were verified to be 9.2 kg of gold, valued at around GH¢10.2 million.

The GoldBod Taskforce’s investigations resulted in the arrest of Ibrahim Aremeyaw, a significant business associate of Rafmoh Gold Ltd., and Bernard Nkrumah, a Tier 2 licensed GoldBod gold buyer who conducts business in Tarkwa under the name “NK Benark Enterprise.”

Subsequent inquiries have identified the sponsor and mastermind of the gold smuggling gang as Rafmoh Gold Limited.

Investigations have shown that for the last two (2) months alone, the company, through its personnel and a number of couriers they hired, fraudulently bought more than 100 kg of gold from NK Bernak Enterprise in Tarkwa, worth more than GH¢100 million.

The public is urged to report any information they may have about the whereabouts of any of the suspects to the closest police station or the Ghana GoldBod headquarters, which is situated in the former Bank of Ghana Head Office on High Street in Accra. They can also call 0800 44 653 or 0800 44 654.

Meanwhile, NK Bernak Enterprise’s gold trade offices in Tarkwa have been shut down, and the license has been suspended by the GoldBod.

The GoldBod has also shut down Rafmoh Jewelly’s company offices at Palace Mall in Accra due to its affiliation with the Rafmoh Gold Limited gold smuggling organization.

GoldBod’s CEO, Sammy Gyamfi Esq., reiterated the company’s dedication to bringing integrity back to Ghana’s gold trade and warned that anyone caught illegally selling, stockpiling, or smuggling gold will face legal action without fear or favor.
