Two Nigerian nationals, Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa, have been detained by the Northern Regional Police Command in relation to the Tamale murder of Nkemujika Uzorchuku Eze, 36.

On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the deceased’s body was discovered in a pool of blood in his Sanzirigu bedroom.

He had a large cut on his forehead and a towel placed in his mouth, according to a statement released by the police on Sunday. They had also looted his room.

Police said that the deceased, his wife, the two suspects, and Godwin Nwafor, another Nigerian, shared a three-bedroom flat.

The two suspects were apprehended at Tatale on the same day while reportedly trying to escape to Togo as a result of intelligence-led operations.

The Tamale District CID received them.

The suspects allegedly confessed to plotting the deceased’s murder during questioning because of a disagreement over money from purported online fraud.

Several suspected stolen items, including cell phones, laptops, tablets, jewellery, and personal documents, were found during a search.

The artefacts have been kept as exhibits, according to the police.

Since then, the deceased’s body has been placed in the mortuary of Tamale Teaching Hospital for an autopsy.

According to the police announcement, suspects are being held and are scheduled to appear in court on Monday, July 13, 2026.

Forensic analysis and CCTV footage retrieval are among the continuing investigations, according to the Northern Regional Police Command.

It has reassured the public of its dedication to prosecuting everyone implicated.
