The Driver and Vehicle Licencing Authority (DVLA) formally began its National Community Outreach program in Accra yesterday with the goal of increasing public knowledge of road safety and legal compliance while also enhancing public access to its services.
Road safety and licensing requirements, as well as public education, are combined with on-the-spot DVLA services, such as driver’s license issuance, renewal, and replacement.
It would cover certain areas of the nation and involve targeted interaction with truck stops, business establishments, places of worship, and other interested parties.
The campaign was centered around the idea of “educating for a safer tomorrow.”
He went on to say that the DVLA was dedicated to collaborating with all parties involved in order to create a comprehensive framework that would allow “Okada” riders to operate safely and effectively while generating income for themselves and their families.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, was represented by Nii Ahene Nunoo III, the Paramount Chief of Abola, who stated that the National Community Outreach program emphasized the value of a public-centered approach in addressing road safety concerns.
He expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation between the DVLA and other interested parties.
In order to improve road safety in the nation, Nii Ahene Nunoo III also urged motorists, car owners, and the general public to participate in the DVLA’s programs and reforms.
Additionally, he begged the DVLA to make sure that motorcyclists were informed about traffic laws and how to follow them in order to help lower the number of accidents.
The Deputy Chief Executive, Services, DVLA, Mr. Foster Akwasi Asante, had earlier in his welcoming speech stated that the DVLA was dedicated to decentralizing its services and tackling driver education challenges.
He expressed gratitude to King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II for his ongoing support of the DVLA’s activities and national road safety concerns.
The event’s participants, who included representatives from security organizations like the National Road Safety Authority, Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and Ghana Ambulance Service, vowed to support the project.
In order to improve road safety throughout the nation, they also gave drivers at the Neoplan truck station road safety advice.
