The Greater Accra Region’s Abossey Okai Spares Dealers Association has sent a strong message to political players, stressing that the Abossey Okai area is primarily a business hub rather than a political arena.
This message is in reaction to recent instances in which politicians have utilized the area for political campaigning without giving the Association advance notice.
‘’As the December 7 elections approach, the leadership of the Association has made it clear that such behaviours will no longer be tolerated” the statement said.
“We urge all political parties and their representatives to seek permission from the Association before engaging with our members or for using the area for political activities,” said Mr. Takyi Addo, the Association’s head of communications.
He remarked that this procedure is required to make sure that the leadership is aware of the situation and equipped to handle any potential problems.
The Association emphasized that no political party should control the Abossey Okai area.
“This is a business centre, and it is crucial to maintain its primary purpose,” Mr Addo reiterated.
The leadership urged all political players to abide by this rule and get the Association’s approval before engaging in any political activity in the region.
“Abossey Okai is a business centre, not a political arena. We expect all political parties to adhere to these guidelines.” statement concluded.
The statement added that the purpose of this warning is to protect Abossey Okai’s reputation as a business hub and its integrity by making sure that political activities don’t interfere with the area’s regular business operations.
