President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, the Chief of Army Staff of Ghana, as the Chief of Defence Staff, beginning Thursday, February 1, 2024.

The appointment has been made subject to consultation with the Council of State in accordance with Article 212 of the Constitution of the Republic, according to a statement released by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Presidency.

He takes over for Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, the outgoing Chief of Staff, who is set to retire on February 1, 2024.
