Samia Nkrumah, the daughter of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, is a former chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP).
She has disclosed that Nana Kwame Bediako, also referred to as Cheddar, asked her to be his running partner in the next presidential election. Samia did admit, though, that she declined the offer.
In a Starr FM interview, Samia verified the speculations pertaining to the proposal.
“Yes, Cheddar did approach me. But I told him that I’ve invested too much in Jomoro. And I believe the Nkrumahist tradition must be represented in Parliament, in our decision making” she continued.
Samia’s great devotion to her constituency, Jomoro, and her determination to making sure that the principles of her father, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, are still reflected in Ghanaian politics are the reasons behind her choice to turn down the offer.
She feels that her support of Jomoro is essential to preserving the Nkrumahist legacy in the country’s government.
