Small-scale mining licenses granted after December 7 are revoked by the government.

The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has declared that any small-scale mining permits granted after December 7, 2024, will be revoked.

During a news event in Accra on Wednesday, the Minister who made the announcement claimed that the licenses were revoked because due process was not followed in their acquisition.

The decision comes after an initial report from an 18-member Working Committee that the government established last month to examine the present licensing system and provide a comprehensive plan to address the threat of unlawful mining.
