Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem, the Deputy Minister for Finance, has told Parliament that the government’s proposed Women’s Bank Project has made great strides.
In response to questions from Honorouble Martin Kweku Adjei-Mensah Korsah, the Member of Parliament for Techiman South, regarding when the government plans to launch the Women’s Bank Project, which was given GH50 million in the 2025 Budget, the Deputy Minister revealed that GH51.3 million has been set aside for the intervention, and an additional GH450 million has been set aside for the initiative in the 2026 Budget.
He also told the House that WDB GH Ltd. was incorporated on January 26, 2026, and that preparatory work was finished.
He states that the government has also submitted an application for the required operating licence to the Bank of Ghana.
The Finance Minister will give a thorough update on the project during the Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review, which is set for July, according to the Deputy Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman.
