Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, a former minister of finance, has called the 2026 budget “devoid of solutions,” claiming that it provides no way to expand or create jobs. Speaking to TESCON members at UDS-NYC, he claimed that the government had not addressed the economic reality.

He claims that the administration is still refuting proven facts.

He insisted that the government cease assigning blame, saying, “Four days ago, the Bank of Ghana issued a statement and in that statement, something that NDC people have been denying.”

Dr. Adam charged that the administration was mismanaging the economy while trying to cover up the flaws with temporary fixes.

“We didn’t win power to enjoy the fruits of our labour,” he said. “They came in without restriction and started putting billions of dollars.”

He maintained that these actions had not resulted in significant advancements.

“Just overnight, the cedi will become stronger. But that is existence,” However, that is existence, he added that the underlying structure of the economy remains weak.

The former minister restated that there is no reason to be optimistic about the 2026 Budget.

He described it as “hopeless, jobless, and growthless,” emphasising that neither the stagnating private sector nor the urgent needs of young people without jobs are addressed.

Dr. Adam highlighted that economic debates should be guided by transparency rather than political rhetoric.

“Ghanaians will know the truth. I will tell the truth,” he said.

He insisted that instead of depending on what he called propaganda, the government should own up to its mistakes.

He urged the administration to reply with facts rather than denials, saying, “My challenge is this.”
