A 37-year-old carpenter has been taken into custody by the police in connection with the murder of a security officer at Kyebi Presbyterian College of Education.
The suspect, Kwame Arhin, also known as Abompe, was apprehended in a thicket close to the school on Sunday, November 16, 2025, according to the police.
The victim, Jonas Baah Sarpong, was a security guard at the college, according to a statement released by the Eastern South Regional Command’s Public Affairs Unit.
Following a distress call to police on Saturday, November 15, 2025, his body was discovered close to the Kyebi Court Complex.
According to preliminary investigations, Sarpong and Arhin had a disagreement before the incident.
According to police, the suspect fled after allegedly slashing the guard’s throat with a cutlass.
The body was taken to the mortuary of Kyebi Government Hospital after the Crime location Management team inspected the location and investigated the surroundings.
Afterwards, the corpses were sent to Accra’s Police Hospital for autopsy and preservation.
The Eastern South Regional Command’s Public Affairs Officer, DSP David Fianko-Okyere, clarified that Arhin was being held and getting ready for court.
“The suspect is in custody being processed for court whilst investigation is ongoing,” he added.
