Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Minister of Health, has called an urgent meeting with the Conference of Heads of Health Training Institutions (COHHETI) nationwide in an effort to improve cooperation within the health sector.
The purpose of the conference was to strengthen ties between the ministry and important parties in charge of health professional training.
The meeting offered a forum for candid discussion on the difficulties facing healthcare training facilities, the standard of healthcare education, and the sector’s strategic approach to human resource development.

Speaking to the stakeholders, Hon. Akandoh underlined how crucial it is to maintain friendly and solid ties between the ministry and training facilities in order to guarantee a responsive and well-coordinated healthcare system.
According to him, the meeting’s objectives also included working together, talking about issues, and coming up with workable answers that would help the institutions and the Ghanaians who depend on the healthcare system.
Madam Margaret Mary Alacoque, the COHHETI President, praised the initiative and said it was both essential and opportune.
She expressed worries about the general conditions and state of service for Health Training Institutions (HTIs), staffing shortages, accreditation delays, and transportation issues.
She also discussed cutting-edge tactics used by some organizations to enhance training results.
In response, Hon. Akandoh declared intentions to improve coordination and follow-ups and reassured participants of the ministry’s commitment to resolving their problems.
In order to improve health education quality and guarantee conformity with national health priorities, he noted, the ministry would shortly implement policy adjustments.
The implementation of automatic code creation for candidates, lowering the cost of admission, and defining leadership responsibilities within HTIs are some of these innovations.
