Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, the mayor of Accra, has visited a few businesses in the city for a two-day working tour to learn more about their operations, discuss productivity-related issues with management, and promote growth to add jobs.
In order to strengthen cooperation between the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and the private sector in order to enhance the business climate, draw in investment, and promote inclusive economic growth in the city, the visit was a component of steps to operationalise the AMA’s stakeholder engagement plan.
In order to beautify and increase cleanliness, the visits were also used to persuade the private sector to embrace green public and open spaces in the city.

Melcom, Mohinani Group, Ashfoam, Duraplast, Promasidor Ghana Limited, De-Luxy Paint, Latex Foam, M/S Thakar Overseas Limited, Sigma Gas Company Limited, and Royal Motors were among the businesses that were visited.
Speaking to the media during the visit, the Mayor stated that the government and AMA were dedicated to assisting in the resolution of issues facing businesses so that they could increase investments and provide more job possibilities for locals, especially young people looking for work.
He reaffirmed that the AMA was still open to cooperation and that the Assembly was prepared to hear businesses’ concerns and work with them to provide long-term, workable solutions to operational limitations.

The Mayor emphasised the Assembly’s interest in businesses with round-the-clock operations, pointing out that these business models might boost output and give young people additional job opportunities.
According to him, the AMA would give priority to initiatives that promoted longer workdays and increased productivity. It would also look into ways to offer advice and assistance to businesses and individuals who wanted to join in the 24-hour economy but were unable to do so successfully.
The Mayor was praised by the managing directors of the enterprises he visited for taking the initiative and for being the first to personally visit them since taking office.
