The NSS Sekyere-Kumawu Economic Enclave Project (SKEEP) is a 20,000-acre project established by the NSS with support from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture at Abotantire in the Sekyere-Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region.

The project is part of the Scheme’s strategic initiatives under the “Deployment for Employment” Agenda. The Deployment for Employment Agenda aims to enhance the graduate youth’s skillsets, making them highly employable and inculcating an entrepreneurship mindset.

Considering the Government’s competitive food import substitution strategy, the NSS Sekyere Kumawu Economic Enclave Project (SKEEP) is expected to boost the government’s competitive import substitution strategy and accelerate the expansion and improvement of Ghana’s agricultural production and productivity.

The NSS SKEEP project seeks the following:

• Agricultural production by 20,000 Hectares (Ha).

• Produce 110,000 MT of food (rice, maize, soya beans, tomatoes, fish and poultry products) annually.

• Train and deploy 65,000 youth into agriculture and ag-adjacent sectors in 4 years.

• Create 81,000 jobs in Rice, Soya, Tomatoes and Poultry value chains in 4 years.

According to the Executive Director of GNSS, Osei Assibey Antwi, the project complements the Scheme’s belief that a more productive and competitive agriculture sector in Ghana could create economic opportunities for young women and men, improve food security, and transform the country’s economy.
