The Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT in Accra is the site of President John Mahama’s One Million Coders Program launch.

Over the next four years, the program, which is a component of the government’s Reset Ghana Agenda, intends to teach one million Ghanaians critical digital skills.

President Mahama told the audience that the event is a watershed in Ghana’s development plan.

“We are not just launching a programme, but we are laying the foundation for a blue economy. We are declaring with bold purpose that Ghana is ready to lead in the digital age,” he stated.

“We are saying to our youth, community, continent, and the world that the future is here and we will be part of shaping it.”

“It is not a fulfilled promise but is a strategic pillar in our reset Ghana agenda, designed to equip Ghanaians with critical digital skills for the 21st Century life and work,” he added.

The launch was attended by important government agencies, development partners, and technology industry stakeholders.

Sam Nartey George, the Minister of Communications, Digital Innovation, and Technologies, spoke at the event and emphasized the initiative’s significance in forming Ghana’s digital future.

“We are at a defining moment in Ghana’s digital journey. A moment that is not only necessary but urgent. This is all action to transform our economy, create sustainable jobs, and invest boldly in our people,” he stated.
