The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection’s Human Trafficking Secretariat (HTS) effectively conducted a thorough and capacity-building training session for a few chosen Ministry employees to strengthen their capacities to combat human trafficking.

As part of the Secretariat’s larger plan to improve institutional comprehension of human trafficking issues, the session was arranged in partnership with the legal firm Zoe, Akyea & Co.

The goal of the training was to give Ministry employees practical understanding about the nature, causes, and effects of human trafficking, going beyond simple awareness.

Using the 4Ps framework—Prevention, Protection, Prosecution, and Partnership—was a major priority in order to provide a comprehensive and well-coordinated institutional strategy to combating the crime.

The initiative’s significance was highlighted by Madam Abena Annobea Asare, Head of the Human Trafficking Secretariat.

According to her, the training was an essential step in making sure that the Ministry’s employees are not only aware of the problems but also equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognise, stop, and handle incidents of human trafficking.

During the event, technical and legal presentations were given by representatives of Zoe, Akyea & Co., a firm with acknowledged experience in legal concerns, including human trafficking.

The goal of the event was to promote informed decision-making and enhance interdepartmental coordination in the struggle against contemporary slavery through interactive presentations and case studies.

They gave participants a broader understanding of the rights of victims, the prosecution procedure, and the national and international legal frameworks controlling human trafficking.

Additionally, the training improved the Ministry’s comprehension of how to collaborate with legal parties on trafficking cases.
