A microlight aircraft with registration number 9GADV crashed near Tema on Monday, March 16, 2026, according to confirmation from the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

The GCAA released a press release that includes this information.

“The aircraft was flying from Ho to Accra, estimating Accra at 1520 Z. The last contact with the aircraft on radio was 1418 Z. There were two persons on board. Further details will be provided in due course,” the GCAA stated.

Ernest Brogya Genfi, the deputy minister of defence, has stated that the aircraft that went down in Tema Community 17 on March 16 is not a part of the Ghanaian military.

He posted this on social media.

“We have received reports of a fatal crash involving a privately owned microlight aircraft at Tema Community 1 this afternoon. We wish to clarify that the aircraft is not owned by the Ghana Armed Forces,” he added.

Using the position, the Deputy Minister expressed sympathy to the victims’ families.

“We pray for the souls of the departed and extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families,” Mr. Genfi said.

A Skyarrow micro light aircraft crashed in Tema, Community 1, site 17, according to earlier information that reached 3news.

Two residents are thought to be deceased.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened at 3:30 p.m.

Personnel from the Ghana Fire Service are reportedly present to evaluate the situation and provide the required support.

According to a GNFS official, “two bodies have been received.”

The collision happened on a school grounds, according to the reports.

All instructors and students have been removed from the area in the interim.

To avoid interference, the incident site has also been sealed off.

According to reports, men from the Aircraft Incidents and Accident Investigation Bureau are moving to the location.
