The Minister of Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has signed an off-taker deal with MES Logistics as part of the government’s attempts to revitalise Ghana’s railway sector and improve freight transportation.

Speaking to the media, Hon. Bukari Nikpe clarified that the collaboration with MES Logistics will make it possible to move cargo by rail, which will help to clear the nation’s ports and main thoroughfares, reduce logistics expenses, enhance supply chain effectiveness, and lessen traffic accidents brought on by large cargo trucks.

He went on to say that the purchase and deployment of the two (2) locomotives and twenty (20) waggons constitute a wise financial decision that would foster industrial development and provide the railway industry with steady income through effective operations and upkeep.

He asked the Ghana Railway Development Authority and its partners to responsibly manage the assets to guarantee operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and the continuous expansion of rail services across the country.

Hon. Bukari Nikpe reaffirmed the government’s dedication to making the railway sector a vital engine of national development, trade facilitation, and economic expansion.
