In order to restore the team’s pride despite their failure to qualify for the tournament, Black Stars coach Otto Addo has pledged to defeat Niger in Ghana’s final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

Ghana’s bid to compete in the tournament next year, which will take place in Morocco, was formally ended last Friday when they drew 1-1 with Angola, ending their hopes of qualifying for the AFCON.

On Monday, though, the team will play Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium, where they want to win and move up to third position in Group F.

“We are looking forward to beating Niger, not to end up last,” Mr. Addo stated during a pre-game press conference on Sunday, underscoring the importance of a great finish.

For third place and our honor, we wish to defeat them.

At 16:00 GMT, the game is set to begin.

With three points from five games—three draws and two losses—Ghana is currently in fourth place in Group F.
