Why NPP needs to be concerned – Global InfoAnalytics on Latest Polls

Mussa Dankwah, a pollster, has highlighted why the latest Patriotic Party (NPP) should be concerned about the results of his latest party affiliation polls.

According to him, the latest polling data indicates a minor loss in support for the NPP and a steady shift in party allegiance, with more respondents identifying with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He explained the results by saying that some respondents decided to identify as floating voters or omitted to divulge, while others were asked which party they generally vote for or identify with.

He stated, “Some say, ‘I normally vote NDC,’ others say ‘I vote NPP,’ and some say they decide each election. Those are the floating voters.”

The data shows that NPP affiliation increased from 26% in December to 25%, following a pattern of steady decline seen over a number of polling sessions.

“This is not a one-off. It has been declining consistently every quarter. That must be a concern,” he remarked.

NDC affiliation, on the other hand, rose from 41% to 45%. According to Dankwah, the increase seems to be a reflection of changes from other groups.

“You can see that the decline in floating voters and those who did not disclose largely adds up to the increase in NDC numbers,” he clarified.

While support for other parties stayed mostly stable, the percentage of floating voters fell from 19% to 17%.

But he warned that changes in national data don’t always provide a whole picture.

“A decline in one party does not automatically mean a direct gain for another. Sometimes the shift goes to undecided or smaller parties,” he noted.
