Thirteen drivers were arrested by the Central East Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) for using sirens and emergency lights without permission during a special enforcement operation on the Kasoa–Winneba Highway.

The operation, which took place in Budumburam on May 30, 2026, was a component of continuous initiatives to uphold traffic laws and encourage discipline among local drivers.

Officials claim that the drivers violated Regulations 65 and 74 of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012 (L.I. 2180) by utilising sirens and emergency lamps without the necessary authorisation.

The MTTD task team processed the offenders in compliance with legal processes after educating them about pertinent legal laws.

The vehicles’ illegal sirens and emergency lights were taken off, and the drivers received warning letters and were advised not to commit the same crime again.

The Central East Regional Police Command stated that it is still dedicated to upholding traffic laws and guaranteeing safety and order on Ghanaian roadways.
