President John Dramani Mahama reaffirmed the government’s commitment to increasing access to high-quality healthcare while addressing the Free Primary Healthcare Programme Durbar at the Ho Municipal Hospital during his two-day Resetting Ghana Tour in the Volta Region.
The President congratulated medical professionals nationwide for their vital role in providing care for Ghanaians and commended the administration and personnel of the Ho Municipal Hospital for their 100 years of devoted service.
President Mahama declared that in order to improve healthcare services, especially in underprivileged areas, the government has approved the hiring of 16,000 nurses in two stages.

He emphasised the Free Primary Healthcare Programme as a critical step toward achieving Universal Health Coverage by ensuring that Ghanaians may receive primary healthcare services at CHPS compounds, health centers, and polyclinics without incurring financial costs.
The President also promoted frequent health screenings and good habits, emphasising the need of early identification in avoiding major illnesses.
He also discussed the government’s continuous investments in healthcare infrastructure, like as new cardiac centers, upgrades to Ho Teaching Hospital, and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (Mahama Cares), which helps patients with serious noncommunicable diseases.
