President John Dramani Mahama has doubled the daily meal grant for pupils attending public special schools from Ghc8 to Ghc15.
He announced the policy in Parliament on Friday, February 27, at his second State of the Nation Address, saying, “Government has also increased the daily feeding grants for students in public special schools from eight cedis to 15 cedis per day.”
He emphasised that the decision is part of a larger commitment to students with impairments.
“The amended GETFund Act has established a dedicated sustainable funding framework to implement free education for learners with special needs beginning in the 2026 academic year,” he told the MPs.
According to the President, the initiatives aim to enhance equity, improve nutrition, and assure long-term assistance for kids in public special schools.
