At Enye Nyame Den in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, Yaw Asare alias Yaw Akuapem, a man in his 50s, allegedly shot himself to death.
Uncertainty surrounds the death’s cause, though.
The deceased’s wife, Mary Gyasiwaa, confirmed the tragic events to Onua FM’s Emmanuel Sowah, saying she was working on their cocoa plantation with her husband when he eventually told her he was traveling to their farm to pick some food with his rifle.
After he had left, she heard a gunshot a short while later.
However, the wife believed it was not part of the mission.
Later, after hearing a gunshot, their kids walked in that direction and discovered Yaw Asare’s dead body.
The body was transferred to Nyinahin Hospital for preservation and an autopsy after the police and local authorities were notified.
Preliminary investigations, according to Ahyiresu Electoral Area Assemblyman Eric Sarpong Nyantakyi, showed that the victim had been acting strangely recently, which many believed to be a sign of a mental disease.
As you may remember, a road rage incident at Ayeduase near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi resulted in a 31-year-old man shooting himself in the head on Tuesday morning.
After shooting 52-year-old Kwame Amoah during the altercation, Sampson Zabanga, 31, shot himself in the head to flee a mob attack.
The altercation started after a reported case of irresponsible driving on Tuesday morning [November 17, 2020] in Ayeduase, Kumasi.
Sampson Zabanga, a middle-aged male, is said to have shot Kwame Amoah during the ensuing altercation over the alleged act of irresponsible driving before Kwame Amoah shot himself.
When someone tried to disarm him, he allegedly shot himself at the scene. Both the suspect and the victim are receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) under police protection and are both in critical condition.
