In the Northern Region’s Tatale-Sanguli Constituency, fifty-six members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been suspended for allegedly conspiring against the party’s interests in the 2024 parliamentary and presidential elections.
They are alleged to have propagated lies about the NPP candidate, worked for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, and provided extensive party agent services to an independent candidate.
The NPP’s Tatali-Sanguli Constituency Chairman, Kpachin Nambu, wrote to Stephen Ayesu Ntim, the party’s national chairman, on January 15, 2024, stating that their actions were deemed to be against the party’s values following a thorough analysis of the evidence.
“Article (3) clause (7)(1) of the NPP Constitution states that a member of the party who stands as an independent candidate against the officially elected member of the party or joining or declaring his or her support for another political party or for an independent candidate when the party has sponsored a candidate in the general or by-election automatically forfeits his or her membership,” he reiterated.
According to Mr. Nambu, the ruling served as a reminder to all members of how crucial it is to preserve the party’s ideals.
He reaffirmed the party’s dedication to creating a powerful and successful political organization that serves the interests of its members.
