The Koforidua Technical Institute’s boys dormitory caught fire late Monday night, displacing approximately 75 pupils.
In around midnight, the dormitory at the Eastern Region school in New Juaben North Municipality caught fire.
Before fire personnel could prevent additional damage, the fire had damaged four rooms.
Of the 75 people inside, eight had minor injuries and had to be brought to the hospital.
Only one of them is still a patient at Koforidua’s St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Although the exact cause of the incident is unknown at this time, fire experts believe it may have been caused by an electrical issue.
The administration of the institution has made a public aid request.
In order to lessen the effects of the accident, Nana Adjei Boateng, the member of parliament for the New Juaben North seat, has given the school GH20,000.
