Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former vice president, has started a two-day campaign tour of the Central Region in anticipation of the January New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary.
In order to strengthen support for his flagbearership bid, Dr. Bawumia is anticipated to continue a series of engagements during the tour, including meetings with regional executives and constituencies throughout the region.
In the Ashanti and Eastern Regions, the former vice president has already started similar outreach initiatives, engaging with party leaders and delegates.
According to his campaign team, the regional meetings are essential to forging unity and bolstering his base of support before the election.
A sizable portion of the party’s leadership and grassroots have so far endorsed Dr. Bawumia’s campaign.
His campaign has been openly endorsed by a number of NPP lawmakers, former district chief executives, former parliamentary candidates, constituency executives, and grassroots organisations.
The goal of Dr. Bawumia’s campaign is to bring the NPP together and put it in a position to win back power in the general elections of 2028.
