Alhaji Wahab Abdul-Hannan Aludiba, the former CEO of the National Food and Buffer Stock Company, and his wife are accused by Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Dr. Dominic Ayine of illegally using the proceeds of crime to purchase a number of valuable properties throughout the nation between 2018 and 2024.
The Attorney-General disclosed information during the Government Accountability series at Jubilee House, claiming that the couple bought upscale residences, prime real estate, and business properties valued at millions of dollars and Ghana cedis using money that had been embezzled during the former CEO’s employment.
Among the properties found are:
A US$1,625,000 five-bedroom home in Chain Homes
US$600,000 for a three-bedroom home in Cantonments
Airport Development Area land parcels worth $750,000 USD
US$250,000 for a 17-bedroom boutique hotel in Gumani, Tamale
A four-bedroom bungalow in Accra’s Dzorwulu neighbourhood is worth GHS4,142,451.
GHS307,200 was spent on the purchase of 0.32 acres of government land.
Investigations, according to the Attorney-General, linked the funding sources for these properties to illegal financial actions connected to the National Food and Buffer Stock Company’s operations during the period in question.
In accordance with Ghana’s Public Property Protection and Anti-Money Laundering Acts, he said, legal action is being taken to reclaim the assets and bring charges against individuals responsible.
The development has sparked a renewed public discussion about accountability and corruption in state-owned enterprises, with demands for more stringent oversight and openness procedures in the administration of public monies.
