Early on Sunday, July 12, a HOWO tanker (11 AG 2649) drove off the Accra–Kumasi Highway into the jungle at Amanase, trapping a driver. Firefighters from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station saved him.
The victim was taken to the Suhum Government Hospital for treatment after the seven-person team used rescue equipment to remove him and turned him over to the authorities.
It is believed that either mechanical failure or human mistake caused the tanker, which was going from Kumasi to Accra, to deviate off the road.
The car had significant front-end damage, but no fatalities were reported.
