The official arrival of 30 vehicle tires and 100 computers from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has given the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) a significant logistical boost.

As a crucial part of the project “Expanding the Kaizen Initiative by Enhancing Sustainable Agribusiness,” the gesture is intended to promote Ghana’s continuous implementation of the Kaizen model.

Top officials from GEA, UNIDO, JICA, AUDA-NEPAD, and the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry attended the ceremony on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the GEA Conference Room in Accra.

The donation represents a “direct and practical investment in Ghana’s productivity agenda,” according to Hon. Sampson Ahi, Deputy Minister, who spoke at the occasion on behalf of the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness & Industry.

He pointed out that Ghana’s goal for sustainable agribusiness and increased national competitiveness is still heavily influenced by Kaizen, Japan’s internationally renowned idea of continuous improvement.

He emphasized, “The digital divide is a development divide.”

“We cannot prepare our businesses for the future without equipping the institutions that support them with the right tools. Today, we are not just receiving hardware; we are receiving a catalyst for growth.”

He went on to say that bolstering GEA’s capabilities directly contributes to bolstering Ghana’s MSMEs, which he referred to as “the bedrock of our economy.”

He encouraged GEA employees to fully utilize the new resources in order to enhance service delivery and increase the Kaizen program’s impact across the country.

The equipment would greatly improve the agency’s technical capability and outreach to SMEs around the nation, according to GEA Chief Executive Officer Madam Marget Ansei, who also expressed sincere gratitude to the Japanese government and development partners.

H.E. Hiroshi Yoshimoto, the Japanese ambassador to Ghana, stressed that the assistance extends beyond the symbolic transfer of equipment.

He said that Japan is still dedicated to strengthening bilateral relations with Ghana even as the present Kaizen initiative comes to an end.

“Kaizen anticipates even greater collaboration between our two countries,” he stated.

Mr. Kossi Tulassi, speaking on behalf of AUDA-NEPAD, praised GEA for its unwavering commitment to growing the SME sector and noted that the organization’s leadership has been essential in promoting productivity growth across the country.

Ghana’s productivity and agribusiness transformation program has advanced with the official receipt of the equipment on behalf of the GEA and the Ghanaian government.
