First Vice-Chairwoman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sherry Ayitey, has declared that any official of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration discovered to have committed corrupt activities will face harsh punishment from the following NDC administration.

According to the seasoned NDC member, the NDC-led government will strictly enforce the legislation against corruption, and “those who need to go to prison would go to prison, and those whose property needs to be confiscated by the state to pay for the money they have stolen, would be done.”

“The NPP government borrowed more money than we did, and the terrible thing is that they haven’t told the people of Ghana what they’ve done with it.

She questioned, “Given that we don’t have the best roads, water, schools, or unemployment, what are they doing with the money?”

In advance of the by-election scheduled for Tuesday, June 27, Ms. Ayitey made this statement at the party’s 31st anniversary celebration at Ningo-Gangan in the Assin North Constituency of the Central Region.

In her account of the party’s struggles from the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) to the Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC) to the NDC, she stated that the party was putting up a lot of effort to win the by-election and the general elections in 2024.

She claimed that the party was concentrated on assuming the reins of power to revive hope for the nation because the NDC had made the greatest contribution to the nation’s progress throughout the Fourth Republic. She said that the party’s performance while in power was unsurpassed in the areas of health, economy, education, energy, and water.

“We have fared better than our opponents, who have utilized propaganda to cast doubt in the public’s eyes, during our time in office. We therefore have every justification for celebrating the party’s 31-year history. We have a superior track record over others.

“I say without fear of contradiction that, there is no political party that has contributed more to the economic, social, and democratic transformation of the country than the NDC,” said Ns Ayitey.

She asserted that the NDC and former President Rawlings were to blame for Ghana’s liberalized economy that permitted private participation in economic management rather than the NPP, and that the party made a significant contribution to Ghana’s standing as an example of African democracy.

The Akufo-Addo administration, according to Ms. Ayitey, is leading the nation in the wrong path with its unfavorable policies and the purposeful failure of companies run by people who are thought to be NPP opponents.

She consequently asked Ghanaians to support the NDC in the upcoming general elections on December 7, 2024, in order to bring prosperity to all and make great efforts to create jobs and ease financial hardship.

Mr. Richard Mensah, MP for Gomoa West, urged to the voters in the Assin North Constituency not to be deceived by the filthy propaganda of the NPP against Mr. James Gyakye Quayson, the NDC Parliamentary candidate, on behalf of the minority MPs.

He reaffirmed the will of the party’s grassroots, the minority in parliament, and all other party structures to free the nation from the dysfunctional NPP administration.

He characterized Mr. Quayson as a clever politician who has led an honorable life that should be emulated and who has to be supported to further the growth of the populace.

The NDC’s National Communications Officer, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, reiterated called for merciless action against any government officials who are discovered to have broken the law in their transactions.

“We are focused on re-equipping, re-tooling, and re-positioning our party to prepare ourselves to win the next election and form the next government,” he continued.
