President John Dramani Mahama has stated that his administration has established a solid basis for Ghana’s long-term prosperity following a year of challenging but essential decisions and changes.
Speaking at a non-denominational Thanksgiving Service on the forecourt of Jubilee House on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, the President reminisced on his first year in office, describing it as one defined by difficult decisions aimed at stabilising the country.
“As we look back on the past years, we do so honestly. We have taken difficult decisions, we have made difficult reforms. We have laid foundations which may not be visible, but are sustainable for the sustainable progress of our country,” President Mahama stated.
He pointed out that the government has spent the last year concentrating on re-establishing economic stability and boosting confidence both domestically and globally.
“Economic stabilisation, institutional reforms, social protection, and the restoration of confidence, both within our country and in the international community, have been our top priorities,” he continued.
According to President Mahama, the Thanksgiving ceremony offered a chance to consider the advancements achieved thus far and to show appreciation for Ghanaians’ tenacity as the nation continues its path towards steady growth and prosperity.
