Dr Bryan Acheampong, the flagbearer aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has appealed for unity ahead of tomorrow’s party primaries and the 2028 general elections.

He has also urged party officials to address the issues that contributed to voter indifference, internal disputes, and social media insults during the 2024 general elections.

This, he claims, will help the party win power in 2028.

Addressing a news conference in Accra yesterday, ahead of the NPP presidential primary tomorrow, Dr Bryan Acheampong, who is also the Member of Parliament for Abetifi in the Eastern region, reminded delegates that the previous primary’s 61% to 37% divide was a warning, not just a result.

During the 2024 general elections, more than two million voters did not cast ballots, according to the former Minister of Agriculture in the Akufo-Addo administration.

He said that this had an impact on the party’s parliamentary numbers, which fell sharply from 137 to 87.

He said that divisiveness was a major factor in the regrettable development and that it should never happen again.

“Two camps one family, but still apart. Can we march into 2028 like this? The answer is no,” he stated urging immediate peacemaking to heal the diavisions.

As that leader, Dr. Acheampong, who formerly held the office of minister of state at the Ministry of National Security, has promised to bring the party together, rebuild its structures, and reinstate discipline.

He pledged to mend the scars from 2023 and make sure that each NPP member feels like a member of a single family as they march towards triumph.

His message was very clear: unity is the cornerstone of success and is not an option.

Dr Acheampong’s pitch to delegates was both emotional and calculated, portraying himself as the unifying force who can save Ghana from the NDC in 2028.
