Ibrahim Mahama, the founder of the Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art (SCCA), Red Clay Studio in Tamale, has reaffirmed that on Saturday, March 21, he and others were attacked by DSP Alhaji Jalil and his Black Maria gang.
In order to prevent the Black Maria team from causing comparable suffering to people in other parts of the nation, he has threatened to sue them.
At a press conference in Tamale on March 23, he stated, “I am going to sue them. There is no two ways about that. If they could do this to me, as known as I am, then one can imagine what they can do to ordinary citizens.”
Mr. Mahama emphasised that the group’s acts are unprofessional and urged the Inspector General of Police to dissolve it.

He said, “They just have to dismember the group because they will go to other places and inflict the same pain on other people.”
Mr. Mahama questioned, “If they prevented mob justice on us, why didn’t they arrest the mob who were attacking us?” in response to the Black Maria team’s allegations that he and his coworkers were attacked by a mob.”
“Alhaji Jalil, the leader of Black Maria, tried to slap me at the Sakasaka Police Station,” Mr. Mahama added.
