President Mahama stated at the CEOs-Government Compact 2026 launch in Accra on Thursday, May 28, 2026, that the reforms are aimed at “making the state work better for citizens and businesses,” guaranteeing transparency, cutting down on duplication, accelerating service delivery, and lowering operating costs.

Such actions, he continued, would boost enterprises, increase exports, and foster a more productive economic climate.

“Government is ready to work hand-in-hand with the private sector to build a productive, competitive, and inclusive economy,”

President Mahama urged CEOs to make investments in Ghana and contribute to the creation of respectable jobs for its people.

Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, emphasised the covenant as a pledge to responsibility between the public and private sectors.

She underlined that the main forces behind Ghana’s economic transformation are industrialisation, leadership, and technology.

“A good product made in Tamale, Ho, Wa, Kumasi, or Accra can now reach markets across Ghana, Africa, and beyond,” she said in reference to technology.

Regarding industrialisation, she emphasised the necessity of moving away from reliance on imports and toward productive manufacturing, agro-processing, local content creation, and export competitiveness, emphasising that these are short-term goals rather than long-term objectives.

The Hon. Minister promised the private sector that her Ministry will assist the implementation of reforms meant to boost export growth, digital commerce, and competitiveness.

Ernest De-Graft Egyir, the founder and CEO of the Chief Executives Network, and Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, the governor of the Bank of Ghana, were among the prominent businesspeople and policymakers present at the event.
