African nationals residing in Cambodia, particularly those from Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, and Uganda, have been advised by the government to depart by May 31, 2026.
A waiver now provided to African nationals would expire on that date, according to an official notice issued by the General Department of Immigration under the Ministry of Interior.
The warning states that any foreign individual discovered in Cambodia after overstaying on June 1, 2026, will be detained at the airport or anywhere in the nation.
According to the announcement, violators would have to pay an 8,000 fine and serve up to two years in prison before being permitted to leave Cambodia.
Authorities also issued a warning that starting on June 1, police will start looking for overstayers in various hideouts around the nation.
