The majority of regular consular services will be suspended by the U.S. Embassy in Accra from July 20 to July 31, 2026, in order to accommodate planned facilities maintenance.

It is anticipated that regular operations will resume on August 3, 2026.

Walk-in services for notaries and Consular Reports of Death Abroad will not be accessible during the maintenance period.

Applicants can still pick up their documents on Thursdays between 1:30 and 3:00 pm if they have received email alerts indicating a pending passport or Consular Report of Birth Abroad paperwork is available for pickup.

During the suspension, adult passport renewals sent through the Embassy’s drop box will still be processed.

The website of the U.S. Embassy has instructions.

The duty officer at the Embassy can be reached at +233 (0) 30 274 1000 if an American citizen in Ghana has an emergency that calls for consular assistance.

The public has been reminded by the Embassy to make appropriate plans and to check its website for information regarding the start of services again.
