A one-year jail sentence has been imposed on 43-year-old social media personality Camilla Alhassan, who claimed in a series of TikTok videos that President John Dramani Mahama had sacrificed 32 cows to gain political power.

She admitted to engaging in abusive behaviour and publishing false information, and a Circuit Court in Accra sentenced her to prison.

In her recordings from June 30 to July 5, 2026, Camila Alhassan further claimed that the government’s effort to provide sanitary pads to flood victims on June 29 was meant to hide the purported sacrifices.

Following the ruling on Thursday, July 16, 2026, her attorney, Kwadwo Gyamfi Bonsu, stated that the court dismissed a case of electronic abuse, stating that it lacked the legal jurisdiction to establish such violation.

However, the court found her guilty of obnoxious conduct and sentenced her to one year in prison.

The lawyer says that although the defence requested a lesser sentence, the court stated that a deterrent sentence was necessary due to the increasing frequency of these acts.
