Abena Osei-Asare, the deputy finance minister, has distanced herself from Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen’s recent decision to run as an independent presidential candidate. Alan is a former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Ms. Osei-Asare emphasized her unwavering commitment to the New Patriotic Party and its shared values despite her close personal and professional relationship with Mr. Kyerematen.
The Deputy Finance Minister explained her position in a press release, writing: “First and foremost, although I maintain a strong personal and professional bond with Hon. Alan Kyerematen, characterized by mutual respect and a shared commitment to our nation’s progress, I must respectfully distance myself from his recent choice.”
She continued, “My dedication to the New Patriotic Party is deeply ingrained and rooted in our common values and vision for a prosperous Ghana. The NPP’s strength has consistently relied on our unity and our ability to collaborate for the greater good of our nation.”
“Let us look forward to the future, keeping the best interests of our party and our beloved Ghana at heart. With determination and unity, we can continue to work towards a brighter future for all Ghanaians.”
