In the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary that is set for today, Saturday, November 4, 2023, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia expressed his optimism in winning.

He has, yet, also admitted that a higher power controls the final result.

Earlier in his campaign, Dr. Bawumia underlined the value of maintaining party unity as well as the necessity of holding free and fair elections. “We have a chance to fortify our democratic processes with today’s election as a strong and united NPP,” he said.

The Vice President’s involvement in the NPP’s internal election is indicative of the organization’s dedication to a democratic presidential candidate selection procedure. As part of its long-standing practice, the NPP will organize competitive internal elections to select its flagbearer for the next general elections.

Both party members and political observers are very interested in and excited about the NPP presidential contest.

“I’m reasonably confident of winning,” Bawumia stated following his casting of the ballot at the NPP Headquarters.

He emphasized once more, “But it’s in God’s hands,” highlighting the importance of having confidence in the democratic process.

One of the four well-known contenders vying to be the NPP’s flagbearer is Dr. Bawumia. Kennedy Agyapong, the Assin Central Member of Parliament, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, the former Minister of Agriculture, and Francis Addai-Nimoh, the former Member of Parliament for Mampong, are the other candidates in this race.
