One of the four contenders for the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer position, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has politely accepted loss and congratulated Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Even though the official results are still pending, it’s clear that Dr. Bawumia is ahead in the competition.
In an effort to congratulate Vice President Dr. Bawumia, Dr. Akoto reached out on his own.
He acknowledged that the party delegates have spoken when he indicated his acceptance of the election results in an interview with Joy News, which is based in Accra.
Dr. Akoto is disappointed that he did not win the flagbearer, but his gracious reply shows that he is a man who values democracy.
With strong competitors like Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, and Francis Addai-Nimoh, the flagbearer race was a closely followed event inside the NPP.
