A hike in water and energy rates has been announced by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), and it will take effect on July 1 and last until September 30, 2024.
The PURC described the impending changes in a statement that was made public on Friday, May 31, 2024, and was signed by Dr. Ishmael Ackah, its executive secretary. Tariffs for lifeline electricity users, or those using 0–30 kWh, will increase by 3.45%.
The increase will be 5.84% for both non-residential users and other residential customers using 31 kWh or more. Industrial customers’ electricity bills will increase by 4.92%.All customer groups will see a 5.16% increase in tariffs during this time.
