The case concerning the passing of the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill has been postponed by the Accra High Court.
The farmer Paul Boama-Sefa filed a lawsuit in an attempt to stop Parliament from moving forward with the bill’s passage and related procedures.
The complainant contends that certain legal requirements were broken by Parliament when it handled the Private Members bill that gave rise to the Anti LGBTQI bill.
The attorneys representing Paul Boama-Sefa, lead by Benedict Nii Kraku, requested a four-week extension from the court when the case was called today, Monday, June 3, 2024.
The Speaker of Parliament and the Attorney General’s attorneys requested the same thing, and Presiding Judge Ellen Mireku granted their request.
After giving each party four weeks to submit written arguments, the judge postponed the hearing until July 29, 2024.
