MTN Ghana’s fibre broadband pricing have been significantly lowered, according to Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations Sam George.
The announcement was made in response to requests for more reasonably priced internet services.
In a post on Facebook, the Minister stated, the telecom provider had responded positively to calls for cheaper internet pricing and enhanced service performance.
The Minister claims that the cost of MTN’s unlimited 100Mbps fibre broadband bundle has decreased by almost 70%, from GH¢987 to GH¢299 per month.
Customers may now purchase an unlimited 300Mbps subscription for GH¢444 per month under the new pricing structure, while an unlimited 500Mbps package will cost GH¢999 per month.
In a statement announcing the updated charges, George stated, “You demanded. We engaged. MTN Ghana has responded.”
“Effective today, fibre broadband prices have crashed. Previously, for a month of unlimited 100Mbps broadband, you paid GH¢987. Today, for the same 100Mbps, you pay GH¢299,” he stated.
The Minister thanked MTN Ghana’s management and employees for responding to government initiatives to increase access to reasonably priced, dependable, and consistent internet services.
“I want to express my gratitude to the management and staff of MTN who have heeded our call for more affordable, stable and reliable fibre broadband,” he stated.
Mr. George gave the public his word that the Ministry would keep collaborating with business leaders to obtain better service packages and enhance digital connectivity nationwide.
“From the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, we will continue to push for better service packages for the Ghanaian people,” he continued.
Households, companies, students, and distant workers who rely significantly on high-speed internet for communication, commerce, and education are anticipated to gain from the reduction.
