Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, has announced intentions to increase robotics boot camps for students nationwide and commended Ghana’s national robotics team for taking first place in an international competition.
Speaking at the Ministry in Accra, the Minister greeted the team upon their return from the 2026 Robofest World Championships in Michigan, USA, where they participated and won first place in the “game” category.
The “Building Bridges” theme of the 2026 Robofest Game challenge requires teams to develop and create a fully autonomous robot that mimics how construction robots assist in building bridges by precisely moving and arranging materials.
The task places a strong emphasis on problem-solving, item manipulation, navigation, and accuracy.

“This is a national success. We all benefited from the nation’s institutions’ success,” the Minister said.
The Ministry will collaborate with the National Communications Authority and other organisations to start a robotics summer boot camp in July, with financing sought to include underprivileged schools, according to Honourable George’s confirmation.
He underlined that robotics will motivate Ghana’s youth to use technology to address national issues and provide them with a positive substitute for passive screen time.
“Getting to the top is the easy part,” the Minister urged the students to continue their commitment, saying, “Staying at the top is even harder.”
“If you continue the hard work and passion that took you to number one, nothing will stop you from remaining there.”
The Minister stated that while encouraging parents and communities to assist young innovators, the government will keep funding hackathons, cyber-security contests, and other programs aimed at developing a pipeline of tech talent.
He said that the robotics team’s accomplishments show that young Ghanaians are capable of competing and succeeding on a worldwide scale.
