Police officers stopped the hearse carrying the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s body to Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region and ordered it returned to Transitions burial Home in one of the most dramatic events from the already chaotic burial, yesterday.
Adwoa Safo had publicly vowed to disobey the 10-day High Court interim injunction, which was granted on Tuesday, July 29, 2026, according to reports and videos that went viral on social media.
The interception left thousands of mourners, Kristo Asafo Mission members, and sympathisers who had gathered at Gomoa Mpota waiting at a funeral without the body of the man they had come to honour.
Despite the court ruling, funeral activities had continued at the location, with thousands of people travelling from all over the nation in chartered buses.
As of the time of publication, neither Adwoa Safo nor the Kristo Asafo Mission had issued a formal police statement outlining the interception.
