The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, is exploring opportunities to expand its support for Ghana’s private sector through a potential investment pipeline worth about US$1.2 billion.

The proposed investments are expected to target key sectors of the Ghanaian economy as the IFC seeks to help mobilise additional private capital, business investment and economic growth opportunities.

IFC Managing Director Makhtar Diop disclosed the investment pipeline following a meeting with Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, in Accra.

The discussions focused on Ghana’s recent macroeconomic developments, the country’s economic recovery efforts and opportunities to attract greater levels of private-sector financing.

Mr. Diop commended the government for what he described as significant progress in macroeconomic management, particularly measures aimed at tackling inflation and addressing Ghana’s debt challenges.

The potential IFC investment could provide additional financing for businesses and strategic economic sectors while supporting private-sector development, job creation and sustainable economic growth.

The development also highlights growing interest from international financial institutions in Ghana’s economic outlook and efforts to strengthen financial stability, investment confidence and private capital mobilisation.
