Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh was a former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ashanti Region’s Ejisu Municipality.
On Sunday evening, October 6, 2024, National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi reported the death in a social media post.
Prior to his death, Yamoah Ponkoh had been ill for a few weeks.
Before going into active partisan politics, he was a football administrator for the Eastern Region’s Kwabibrem Football Club and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
Prior to the 2008 elections, he entered the forefront of partisan politics, serving in a number of leadership roles for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and being one of its most prominent speakers.
He was appointed as the Ejisu Municipal Chief Executive until the NDC’s defeat in the 2016 election.
